Goodbye to the Sweetness in My Memories: A Picture Book of Hometown Stories

"What is this cool thing? Why are you appearing in the picture book my kid brought home??🤔"
A friend suddenly messaged me last week
and sent over a photo of the picture book

"You didn't even know I'd infiltrated the school~"
"That's so cool, becoming an idol for elementary school kids."
"You're too exaggerating😳"
"Not at all, my daughter is currently pestering me to read it to her😆"

It reminded me of the time a while back when I got a call from Kunshan Elementary School
"We are working on a picture book project and would like to record the story of your family. Would it be convenient for the students to come over for an interview?"

It turns out Tainan City has a "Telling Our Hometown Stories" picture book project
allowing elementary students, through the process of creating picture books,
to learn about and record the cultural stories belonging to their own hometowns

In the past few days, I received the fruits of the teachers' and students' hard work,
"Goodbye to the Sweetness in Memory,"
which documents the transformation of our family's three-generation bakery business,
capturing every special moment
in both words and illustrations.

I'm grateful for this opportunity
to become No. 98 in Tainan City's hometown story picture book series.
Even though I see myself as the protagonist of the picture book,
as someone who is a big "I" (introvert),
I'm still not quite used to it🫣

We currently have a copy of the picture book at our shop as well.
For those interested,
feel free to drop by and take a look next time~
