2024 Yongkang Community College Local Culture Lecture Series
There have really been a lot of courses and activities lately.
Because fruit cakes and the "Dan Bing" (Cake Carrying) Festival are primarily related to local temple activities,
friends in other parts of Tainan are less familiar with these traditions.
Therefore, we have always collaborated with community colleges to offer courses
When we taught at the community college last week,
we had students from various districts in Tainan.
In addition to sharing the history of the Dan Bing Festival and the origins and evolution of fruit cakes,
we also gave the students a hands-on experience.
Our goal wasn't just to teach production techniques or recipes,
but to allow students to gain a deeper appreciation and understanding
through the process of practical experience.
We hope that through this course,
they can learn more about the unique local culture of Taiwan,
understand the joy of making pastries by hand,
as well as the various challenges involved!
